Whether you have rentals to manage, or occasionally rent out your apartment through a website like Airbnb, a connected lock may prove to be a very useful solution. How does it work? Follow the instructions! When we think of a connected home, we imagine automatic shutters, smart lighting and controlled temperature. But the lock, which is already a few centuries old, is now part of the connected era too, so why miss out on the benefits it offers? Here are a few arguments to convince you to take the plunge if you own a property that you rent out for long or short periods. It's easy to install Do I have to change my door if I buy a connected lock? Not at all! Many doors are compatible, and there is a strong chance that yours is too. Among the doors which are compatible, there are those with a single-point lock, but also ones with multi-point or security locks (required by insurance), and even doors without handles on the outside. Important: if your door is fitted with a Euro cylinder, it is compatible in 99% of cases! Is your door compatible? If yes, you can install your connected lock in 3 steps: 1/ Create your account on our Somfy Connect website. 2/ Install your lock: remove the original cylinder and insert the new secure cylinder supplied with the connected lock, fit the connected lock and start the auto-acquisition process. 3/ Configure your lock: register and synchronise your lock in the dedicated application. Congratulations! You can now enjoy your lock. Simplified entrance management Once your lock is connected and configured, you can assign several permanent and temporary users to it. A permanent user will have access at any time, while a temporary user will have access to your property for a given period or during regular time slots. Access will be via one of these four methods: • Electronic key on a smartphone (via our application) • Badge • Via a personal code • Or simply a metal key for the more reluctant among us The badge and the access code require a badge reader to be installed as well. So whether you have a house near the sea that you rent out during the holidays, or a studio flat in town that you occasionally rent out on Airbnb, these different options enable you to control access to your property as you wish in a way that is 100% secure and easy. You create your access keys via your mobile application or leave badges in the house: no travel is required, and everything is done online via the gateway that ensures that the lock is connected to your Wifi box!
